New Session starts on January 20 and 23, 2008.[Purpose] [Who can benefit] [What will be taught] [Class Sessions and Levels] [Class Structure] [Pre-requisites] [Technical Requirements] [About the Instructor][How can I join for FREE] PurposeThe
purpose of these classes is to help those who are not able to go to a
Qur'an teacher to learn the proper recitation of the Qur’an. And to
further improve the skills of those who do have a Qur'an teacher. Who can benefit
What will be taughtEach
session of the Quran Tutor will cover different aspects of reciting the
Qur’an properly, in the way it was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam. The classes begin by teaching the proper
pronunciation of Arabic letters and the diacritics of Arabic language
(Harakaat). In the advanced levels, we teach the various rules of
Tajweed that will help our students beautify their recitation of the
Qur'an. In addition to that, some advanced rules of reading the Qur'an
are also taught in the higher levels. Although learning Tajweed can properly be done only with a teacher, this class will help our brothers and sisters recognize their own mistakes, and will give easy and simple tips on how to fix these mistakes. Some of these mistakes can even change the meaning of the Qur’an. We hope that insha Allah this class will prove to be a self-help guide for our students. Class Sessions and LevelsPlease click here to view the schedule of classes. Each level consists of four one-hour classes. *If you don't know what time that would be in your locality, please use the Time and Zone Converter. Please use "US/Eastern" as our time. Then choose your city/country to convert this time to your local time. If you live in a zone in the
world where this will result in an odd time for you, please e-mail us at qurantutor@gmail.com. Based on enrollment, we will try our best to
offer the class at a time when it is convenient for your locality. To view the curriculum for all the levels, please click here. Class StructureOnce
students register, they will have access to the class website. The
class website contains information about how to access the class,
different class announcements and a class guide.
The class guide primarily serves the purpose of a white board. All the
examples and names of rules that the instructor will refer to in each
of the lectures are pre-written in the class guide in the form of
numbered tables and charts. The instructor then simply refers to these
tables and specific examples during the class so students can easily
follow along. You can see an example of the class guide by clicking here. This is the class guide for the 2nd week of Level 1 classes. We understand that online classes could get monotonous at times because no one can see one another. The Qur'an Tutor Online classes are very interactive in nature. During the class, the instructor uses some or all of the following activities/methods, and more if needed:
Pre-requisitesStudents who enroll for Level 1 are expected to have the basic reading skills of the Qur'an (Arabic letters, the Harakaat (Fat-hah, Dhammah, Kasrah) etc.). Students should be able to read Arabic words from the Qur'an, even if slowly. Please remember, the Qur'an Tutor Online courses will not teach you how to recognize Arabic letters and Harakaat; they will teach you how to pronounce them correctly and how to implement certain rules of Tajweed in your recitation.Level 1 is no longer a pre-requisite to take other levels of the Qur'an Tutor Online. Students can enroll in any of the levels during any session. Technical Requirements In order to take this course, you will need the following:
